Most problems in Outlook Express are caused by incorrect server settings. Following
are instructions on how to check them.
Inside Outlook Express, click on the Tools menu, and select Accounts.
A new box will pop up. Click on the mail tab at the top.
If you already have an account set up inside Outlook Express, select it, then click
the Properties button at the right. If you don't have an account set up inside
Outlook Express, select Add at the right, then select Mail.
On an existing account, a new box will pop up. Under the General tab, make sure
your e-mail address and name are typed in there.
Under the Server tab, the Incoming and Outgoing servers must be set to ecr.net if
you have a normal PPP or NOLIMIT account, and mail.ecr.net if you have a PPPVOP
or NOLIMITVOP account. Below the servers in the username and password fields, put
in your user-ID and password. For an existing account, that should be everything
you need to set.
If you are setting up your account in Outlook Express for the first time, it will
ask you for a display name. Just put in your name, and click next.
It will now ask for your e-mail address. Make sure the first dot, next to "I
already have an e-mail account" is selected. Then put in your e-mail address,
and click next.
Now, make sure that POP3 is selected in the drop down box.
If you have a normal PPP or NOLIMIT account, then both mail server fields should
have ecr.net put in. If you have a PPPVOP or NOLIMITVOP account, then mail.ecr.net
should be in both fields.
After you have put in this information, click next.
Now, it will ask for your account name and password. Enter this information, and
click next, then click finish.
Your mail account should now be set up properly.
If you have checked your settings, and they are correct, and you are still having
problems, give our offices a call, or bring your computer into our Service Center
for a free internet setup check.
