How to add files to online backup
- On Wizard Launch Page, select “Backup Online”
- Expand/collapse the treeview.
- Check folders and files to be added to the backup.
How to do a backup now
- Continue with the Online Backup Wizard to the end.
- Both scheduled and unscheduled backups can be run immediately by leaving the “Run backup now” option checked.
- The options below “Run backup now” tell SOS what to do after the immediate backup has been launched.
How to do a Physical Media Upload
- From the Wizard Launch Page, click Advanced and select “Launch Physical Media Upload”
- After clicking “Launch Physical Media Upload”, two options are presented with explanatory text
How to recover all your files
- On Wizard Launch Page, select “Restore Online”
- To do full recovery, do not filter the results; leave the calendar and filter boxes at their default settings
- After recovery data is fully retrieved from the server (the “processing” graphic stops rotating), click “Next”
- The treeview displays all systems backed up under this account
- Check any/all systems to do a full recovery of the files and folders
- Checking a system treeview node automatically checks all the files and folders beneath it.
How to recover an individual file
- In Step 1, “Search for backups to recover from” (see screenshot above), filters can be set to locate the desired file more easily.
- In Step 2, “Select backups” (see screenshot above), expand the treeview to find the desired file within the appropriate system
- Check only the file to be recovered
How to recover a particular version
- In Step 2, “Select backups”, of the Online Recovery Wizard, if more than one version has been backed up, these will appear in a dropdown in the file list in the right pane
- Select any item in the dropdown to recover that version to any location you nominate
How to view your backup history
- The calendar in Step 1, “Search for backups to recover from”, shows all dates in bold on which a backup was run
- In Step 2, as described above, version dropdowns give you the date and time that individual versions were backed up to the server
How to do a Physical Media Recovery

How to enable LiveProtect for continuous data protection
- LiveProtect is continuous protection of files such that changes are backed up as they occur
- To set LiveProtect on important files, click “Backup Online” from the Wizard Launch page to start the Online Backup Wizard
- In Step 1, “What do you want to back up?”, right-click in the file list in the right pane any important file to be LiveProtected and select “Enable LiveProtect”
How to backup open files
- SOS now intelligently backs up open files
This happens automatically; there is no extra configuration required of the user
How to access your files remotely
- Go to https://myaccount.managedoffsitebackup.net
- Enter username and password, then click Online Recovery > Recover
- All your system names are displayed in the web page as in the screenshot below, drill down to the file you want to recover
How to share files/folders
- Navigate down to and then click on a file that you wish to share with others
- Click the “share” option on a given file or folder to share it. Note: sharing large folders with the version 4 beta at this time is not recommended, as it can take quite a significant amount of time to process the request.
How to set your filters
- All files and folders selected for protection in the Online Backup Wizard can also be seen in the Classic View
- Classic View includes further options for filtering which files are protected
- Access Classic View through the “Advanced” button on Wizard Launch Page or the “Classic View” button in the wizards
- In Classic View, select the “Options” tab
- Select “Protected File Type Filters” and then set desired options
How to change your password
- Again in the Options tab of the Classic View, select “Change Password”
- Fill in the form to change the password on your account.
